I love soup; you'll start to notice that on this blog. But, honestly, I am not a fan of pre-packaged soup. The vegetables in condensed soups are just so...condensed. They end of being so tiny and so mushy with little to no flavor. Not to mention, if you follow a low FODMAP diet, good luck finding a variety of condensed soups without garlic and onion. It's nearly impossible.

I really love granola bars. The crunchiness, the chewiness, the chocolate-iness. The problem is that there are very few granola bars that I would buy from the grocery store shelf. One of my favorite pastimes is to stand at the shelf and count the ingredients in the granola bars. It always amazes me when I pick up a relatively small bar and count over 30 ingredients. How? How did you fit so many ingredients into a bar that is smaller than my hand?

Have you seen that image floating around Facebook talking about the McDonald's Shamrock Shake? Apparently the small Shamrock Shake has 73 grams of sugar, and honestly, that's kind of ridiculous. The American Diabetes Association recommends limiting added sugar intake to 40 grams per day. Typically, I challenge people a bit more and tell them to stay under 25 grams of added sugar per day.

Have you heard about the benefits of turmeric yet? I feel like it's popping up everywhere--and for good reason. Turmeric is a component of curry and it gives it the bright yellow color it's known for. Turmeric has been used for thousands of years to treat different ailments. It's been studied in cancer research, arthritis, GI health, and more! Of course, as with most research, the majority of the research has been done in test tubes and on animals; so take this with a grain of salt. Turmeric (and it's antioxidant compound, curcumin) has the ability to stimulate the gallbladder to produce bile, which, may help improve digestion. It might be completely psychological for me, but when I have an upset stomach or feel nauseous, this is my go to drink. Unless I have Canada Dry available; thanks, mom, for getting me hooked on that when I was a child with the flu.

Salads are so easy to throw together for lunch or dinner, but my goodness, they can certainly get boring. If you just throw some romaine, tomatoes, and dressing together, prepare to be disappointed.
I love salads that use a variety of greens and vegetables; I want it to be super colorful. I also love creating my own salad dressing. I feel much less guilty slatering my salad greens with a dressing that I made versus a store bought one.

Typically, I create a new recipe and then it jumps in a long line behind the other recipes I have already created, tested, and photographed. But, this recipe is different. This one jumped straight to the front of the line. It cut the line. It lined jumped. This recipe is so delicious that I just couldn't wait to share.
As a pescatarian, I am always looking for new lunch options. It's a bit more tricky when you do not eat meat. I also want something that I can eat for 5 days in a row because I don't have time to cook during the week. This recipe wins. I've had for lunch two weeks in a row now.
